FREEDOM FOR THE REVOLUTIONARIES IN GREECE
The fascist AKP state has been destroying our homeland for years. Extrajudicial killings, arrests and torture are directed primarily at revolutionaries of the People’s Front (Halk Cephesi) who are fighting for socialsim and the elimination of capitalism. In 2017 alone, 2 revolutionaries were shot dead in their own home and more than 500 were imprisoned.
While fascism in Turkey is fighting against revolutionaries by all means, the EU is also resorting to means of terror against revolutionaries. While the trial of Musa Aşoğlu (arrested on 2 December 2016 in Hambrug) begins in January, the revolutionary Erdal Gökoğlu was arrested in Liège, Belgium on 13 November. There is no warrant for his arrest in Belgium, he is arrested on orders of the imperialist Germany, and is to be extradited to Hamburg, where he is to be tried. Last week 9 Revolutionaries of the People’s Front were arrested in Athens on charges of membership in the Revolutionary People’s Liberation Party-Front. They were tortured throughout the night and were taken to the magistrate, they were later jailed. The operation was arranged with an assassination like just before Recep Tayyip Erdoğan arrived in Greece. Torture on the detainees is clearly visible from the images and photographs posted on the internet.
The terror against revolutionaries does not surprise us. We know that it does not matter whether the rulers are called AKP, or SYRIZA, whether they are right wing, conservative, or (as some of the left claimed about SYRIZA) revolutionary, basically they all serve the interests of the ruling class, they all serve the interests of imperialism. The “revolutionary, left, and progressive” SYRIZA, once called the “saviour” of the left by those in Europe and Turkey, arrests and tortures revolutionaries on behalf of the fascist regime in Turkey run by Erdoğan. Syriza shows solidarity with HDP, whilst attacking revolutionaries. We find this very contradictive, aren’t you doing exactly what Erdoğan does to the left in Turkey?
The imperialists must know one thing for sure, no matter how many times they arrest us, the decline of their order is a scientific certainty. It is inevitable. Even if they arrest and kill all the revolutionaries in the world, they will not be able to stop the revolution and the rightful struggle for socialism. They can cut down the trees, but they cannot prevent spring.
