OUR URGENT CALL TO ALL INTELLECTUALS, ARTISTS AND THE PUBLIC OPINION ON EVERY CONTINENT OF THE WORLD!

Ibrahim Gökcek is hungry for 322 days, he’s going to die! Let’s give him a voice, let’s give him power, let’s save Ibrahim’s life.

Grup Yorum member, bass guitarist Ibrahim Gökcek is on death fast for already 322 days for being able to perfom his arts.

Helin Bölek has lost her life in death fast, demanding the removal of concert bans.

Grup Yorum’s resistance is against all the injustice.

AKP fascism doesn’t even tolerate the merest criticism. Peoples are even arrested for comments they write on Facebook. 

Grup Yorum didn’t leave a stone unturned to make its voice heard, before starting with a death fast.

Squares were banned, we gave concerts on roofs of houses or on the truck haulages.

AKP fascism answered this struggle of Grup Yorum with repression, torture and arrests.

The AKP government, who has taken under control a majority of the press in the country, wants to prevent the voice of Grup Yorum and actually of the whole opposition.

We made all possible efforts but instead of decrease the repression was increased.

All our concerts were banned, our institution, the Idil Culture Center, in which we carry out our activities, was constantly raided and they set a price on our heads, announced us as terrorists and released search warrants against us. They didn’t leave us a chance to live with our arts. Under such a dark condition  we decided to begin with a death fast for free performance of our arts.

The AKP has banned the concerts of Grup Yorum, arrested its members an decided the annihilation of the group.

A Grup Yorum which is not able to perform its songs, anyway is dead. We decided to refuse our political death.

It is the most democratic right to give concerts. Therefore, it is fascism that forces us to death. By refusing to accept this demand, fascism became the murderer of our friend Helin Bölek.

For an artist it is as important as drinking water to sing his or her song freely!

Same as human being dies without water, an artists, who can’t perform its arts and can’t sing songs, will die! 

This is our call to all intellectuals, artists, press workers in the world, who defend the freedom of arts;

It is in your hands to save the life of Ibrahim…. Let’s make a call to the AKP government to accept the demands of Grup Yorum!

Don’t let us allow, that people’s artist Ibfrahim Gökcek will be killed. His demands are absolutely democratic and can be accepted.

Our demands;

1- Removal of the concert bans of Grup Yorum

2- Release of the imprisoned Grup Yorum members!
